I  am sorry to start the New Year by passing on the very sad news that Earl's Court Square RA member and active ECS member Christine Powell who was on our Environment Commitee passed away recently  . Christine was a lovely lady and an active member of the committee and will be much missed by us all. I am sure I speak for all when we send our thoughts and best wishes to her family and friends

I have this evening attended a presentation by Philip Chambers the Manager of the K+K George Hotel in Templeton Place, he along with a team of architects/ designers to see the plans they have for refurbishing and changes they want to make at the Hotel. Many other local businesses attended along with local residents and all three of our Ward Councillors.

I was very pleasantly surprised with the designs and artist impressions. The main facade has no changes, the rear of the building where the three doors are to the gardens will become three 3 bay windows style exits which match up with the portico entrances at the front so vastly improve the rear appearance of the building

During the refurb the old plant equipment would be removed and new boilers etc fitted that are all eco
friendly so that's a very welcome sign

The internal refurbishment to rooms looks great and will serve their guests well and hopefully will attract more people to stay in the area, they are also adding a Cafe and Deli  which will be aimed at locals not just hotel guests , and that I would very much welcome as whilst K+K is a small chain the deli and cafe would operate very much on a local independent level as opposed to one of the many chains we see on our High Streets

The garden will remain but with a lot more planting and more foliage, Linda Wade has been working closely with them on that to advise the type of greenery and planting needed

I will advise on the site with a link when the planning application goes in to RBKC but on a personal level it is one I would support and can recommend that we at ECS support as very much a positive for the area
